Kyocera Mita America Launches TCO Tracker Printer Evaluation Tool For Its Highly-Successful EcoPro Printer Line

Kyocera Offers Businesses the Opportunity to Determine True Total Cost of Ownership of their Printing Options

April 7, 2008

FAIRFIELD, N.J., - April 8, 2008 - Kyocera Mita America, Inc., one of the world's leading document imaging companies, today launched its innovative TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) Tracker for its line of black and white and color EcoPro printers. The TCO Tracker is an interactive web-based tool that helps businesses compare printer consumable costs such as toner, drums and maintenance kits - across different vendor models.

All TCO Tracker information and pricing is provided by an independent third party, the NPD Group, Inc., a venerable market intelligence firm, to ensure end-users can best calculate true printer costs and compare competing brands with Kyocera's EcoPro solutions.

Kyocera boasts some of the industry's most competitive printer TCO, and offers businesses and resellers of the EcoPro line the opportunity to assess recurring costs before purchasing, or selling a printer solution. Simply, the TCO Tracker encourages potential buyers and resellers to enter in their current printer's monthly volume, percent of coverage, number of printers and the number of months they plan to own the device; and in return they receive a comparative look at the cost differences between the Kyocera EcoPro printer and that of any comparable peripheral solution.

"Businesses are seriously examining their budgets and expenses, and the TCO Tracker is a great way for companies of all sizes to critically evaluate their printing expenditure costs based on their needs," said Peter Hendrick, vice president, Marketing, Kyocera Mita America. "With a few quick clicks, one can see how much they can save with an EcoPro printing solution for their businesses' document needs."

Kyocera Mita America, SYNNEX Corporation Printer in New Channel Initiative

Kyocera Opens New Reseller Channel, SYNNEX Expands Managed Print Services Offerings With New Kyocera EcoPro Printer Line

October 25, 2007

FAIRFIELD, N.J. - October 24, 2007 - Kyocera Mita America, Inc., one of the world's leading document solutions companies, today announced that it has entered into a strategic distribution agreement with SYNNEX Corporation, a leading business process services company, to launch a new channel program called EcoPro Plus. The EcoPro Plus program, essentially a managed print services market approach complete with hosted services and new printer platforms, will provide resellers and their end-users with a more cost-effective and reliable printing solution.

The managed print services solution is fast emerging as a new consultative sales approach designed to benefit both the end-user and reseller through better ROI and efficiencies. According to IDC's Keith Kmetz, vice president, Hardcopy Peripherals Solutions and Services, "Nearly half of US companies do not track distributed print running costs, and only a third believe they have a good understanding of their distributed print related costs. This is due in large part because many companies do not capture all the components of total cost of ownership." EcoPro Plus offers resellers significant opportunities to evolve their business model by implementing a seamless managed print services solution.

"We recognize the growing market demand for a solution that enables printer resellers to create a competitive advantage within a commoditized sector," said Michael Pietrunti, president and CEO, Kyocera Mita America. "EcoPro Plus gives resellers an engagement model that shifts their value proposition from sales representative to a trusted company advisor, while it also gives end-users opportunities to realize unprecedented savings."

EcoPro Plus will include: a new line of EcoPro monochrome and color printers that are; exclusive to authorized Kyocera EcoPro resellers, as well as automated technical and field sales support, training, supplies and services. SYNNEX Corporation supports the EcoPro Plus program through utilization of its PRINTSolve platform that tracks and manages device usage, page volumes, toner levels and service needs during the lifetime of an end-user's output device.

"The addition of the Kyocera Printer line represents a natural fit with our PRINTSolv strategy and offering", said Bob Stegner, Senior Vice President, Marketing, North America at SYNNEX Corporation. "We are delighted to be partnering with Kyocera and look forward to the opportunity to expand our relationship."

Kyocera Toner:

Kyocera Mita supports the joint standard set introduced in 2004 by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission. This standard, ISO/IEC 19752 is supported by Kyocera’s monochrome printer modelsand is a method for the determination of toner cartridge yield (page yield) for monochromatic printers and multifunction products that may contain printer components.

The ISO standard for monochromatic printers clearly defines the key attributes that affect yield and provides rigorous testing methodologies to measure monochromatic toner yield. The standard also prescribes the method for declaring yield values from test results and the appropriate method of describing the yield of cartridges in documentation supplied to the consumer by the manufacturer.

By adopting this measurement method, customers can now be assured that companies who are adhering to the ISO standard are using the most robust testing criteria available for determining monochromatic toner yield. Page yield of a particular toner is determined by the total number of pages that can be printed with a single toner container.

"ISO's voluntary standards have to be robust to make it through the rigorous processes that ensure they meet the requirements of businesses and their customers worldwide,” said Roger Frost, ISO Press and Communications Manager. “Created by experts from organizations the world over, the standards represent an international consensus on state-of-the-art solutions for technological and business challenges. The designation of ‘ISO International Standard’ has to be merited."

“As manufacturers continue to adopt this new ISO standard, customers will have the advantage of accessing information they can count on when making purchasing decisions,” said Michael Pietrunti, senior vice president, marketing and technical services for Kyocera Mita America. “We strongly support the industry-wide adoption of this and other standards and believe ISO’s involvement will result in increased industry and customer benefits.”

Product Leadership

Kyocera's global leadership in printer technology was combined with Mita's strength in copiers and multi-functional products when the two companies merged in 2000. Kyocera has leveraged this combined strength to manufacture a complete line of award-winning digital imaging products and their advanced ceramic components, including a long-life drum unit and engine that are common on all Kyocera-manufactured products. Kyocera introduced the world's first single-layer photo-electrostatic OPC drum in 1998, and continues to excel in the development and manufacture of long-life drums, a component it supplies to many printer and copier manufacturers around the world.

All Kyocera ECOSYS printers and multifunctional products utilize the common KX driver, which provides a standard look and feel for end users and also enables the easy set-up and management of all products running on the network.

Technology Innovation

Kyocera innovates using technology to reduce TCO, streamline advanced document imaging tasks and protect the environment. Its environmental awareness is evidenced through the ECOSYS brand of printers. Unnecessary waste of cartridges is eliminated inECOSYS products, since toner is added to the existing unit without disposal of the drum, a feature that not only helps protect the environment but contributes to a low TCO.
