Kyocera Launches New Network Print Systems With Fast Output, Superior Quality and Low Cost of Ownership for the Workgroup and Enterprise
Economical monochrome printers provide customers unmatched network reliability and one of the lowest total cost of ownership

Fairfield, N.J., November 1, 2006 - Kyocera Mita America, one of the world's leading document imaging companies, today introduced two new models to the company's line of cost-effective ECOSYS monochrome printers. The new FS-9130DN, positioned to meet the needs of the workgroup and the FS-9530DN, perfect for the enterprise environment, both deliver fast output speeds, standard duplex, standard network interface and exceptional finishing options.

The FS-9530DN prints 51 letter-sized pages per minute and features a 600 MHz central-processing unit and 128 MB of standard memory (upgradeable to 640 MB) for impressive performance and fast handling. The FS-9130DN prints 40 letter-sized pages per minute and has a 600 MHz CPU and 64 MB of standard memory (upgradeable to 576 MB).

"Today, businesses are looking for print devices that are easy to use, increase office productivity, and save them money," said Bill Cassidy, associate director of product and solutions marketing, Kyocera Mita America. "In this competitive economic environment, we need to provide print solutions that offer true value to the customer. With superior output quality, optional paper handling and finishing, plus an array of security features, the FS-9530DN and the FS-9130DN are an ideal print solution for any organization."

The FS-9530DN and FS-9130DN provide the user with a wide array of standard and optional features, including standard USB Host Printing, optional data security kit, an optional hard disk drive (HDD) and optional paper handling and finishing.

Standard USB Host Printing allows users to plug-in a flash drive directly at the printer and output PDF documents securely. In addition, the optional Data Security Kit (C) adds a critical layer of protection. Kyocera's Data Security Kit acts as a powerful "memory scrubber" that automatically overwrites residual data remaining on the printer after each print job is completed. This works to prevent unauthorized user access to confidential information retained in the printer?s hard disk drive, thus reducing the threat of a security breach at the device.

The optional 40GB HDD is perfect for companies that require true document printing and advanced document storage. The HDD offers e-MPS functions: Private Print, Job Storage, Quick Copy, Proof and Hold, and Virtual Mailboxes. There are a series of optional paper handling and finishing accessories to choose from; including 500x 2 sheet paper drawers or a 3,000 sheet large capacity tray. Both printers have a maximum paper capacity of 4,200 sheets, and the ability to print from letter to ledger-sized paper.

The FS-9530DN and the FS-9130DN come standard with the KM-NET suite of software utilities that provide additional capabilities for network and device management. KYOCERA Document Solutions America, one of the world's leading document solutions companies, has announced its Grand Prize winner and regional finalists for its “Taking Care of Business” demo competition for authorized dealers across the United States. This sales program builds on the strong history of the annual technical competition, the Kyocera Global Service Award. The overwhelming five year success of this service program led Kyocera to extend a similar competition to the selling representatives within its U.S. dealer community.

Brian Frost, of Witt Company, in Washington State, took first place in the nationwide competition.

Regional finalists included:

Ben Lankes, of WNY Imaging Systems, Inc., in New York
Rob Montgomery, of Meritech, in Ohio
Elaine Harman, of Copiers Plus, in North Carolina
James Hester, of Applied Business Concepts, in Louisiana

All finalists earned a trip to Kyocera’s Pan-American Dealer Meeting in Las Vegas where they shared their knowledge and key techniques though a moderated panel discussion. They will continue to reach the Kyocera dealer community through a video series that is accessible from The Learning Center, Kyocera’s learning management tool. These progressive demonstrations are being regarded as benchmarks for all representatives selling the complete Kyocera portfolio including products, applications and services.

Kyocera’s “Taking Care of Business” demo contest challenged individuals to showcase their consultative sales process, by conducting a demo that went beyond the device. Demonstrations combine product technology with business applications and services to differentiate Kyocera’s offerings, and provide a total document solution to customers.

All contestants had to:

  • Submit a video “Customer Presentation” and written “Business Proposal” that addressed the specific needs of a customer scenario;
  • Develop a plan for leading with a broad and balanced deployment strategy of devices (MFPs, Printers, A4 MFPs) to maximize the customer’s total document value, while minimizing the impact on our environment;
  • Showcase the integration of Kyocera services and value-added Business Applications and/or Kyocera’s portfolio of third-party solutions; and
  • Participate in a Q&A session from a “customer” (members of the Kyocera judging panel).

After two initial rounds, five finalists were invited, all expenses paid, to attend the Kyocera’s annual Pan-American Dealer Sales Meeting in Las Vegas. A total of 170 individuals participated in the contest.

Kyocera Mita’s ECOSYS technology delivers exceptionally low operating costs without sacrificing high quality output

Fairfield, New Jersey, July 30, 2003 - Kyocera Mita , http://www.kyoceramita.com/ ne of the world's leading document imaging companies, announced today that it has been awarded the Most Cost-Effective Printer Technology award from internationally known Business Equipment Research and Test Laboratories (BERTL). This award further validates Kyocera Mita’s commitment to lowering its customer’s total cost of ownership (TCO) as well as providing an environmentally friendly product, which maintains the highest quality output.

“Kyocera Mita is honored to receive BERTL’s Most Cost-Effective Printer Technology award,” said Michael Pietrunti, vice president, marketing for Kyocera Mita America. “BERTL’s recognition further supports our claims that Kyocera Mita offers the lowest printer TCO in the industry today. This commitment was further reinforced with Kyocera Mita’s introduction of the FS-C5016N, the first color printer in the 11-20 page segment to offer a color page for less than five cents.”

“The core of ECOSYS is a Kyocera Mita patented long life amorphous silicon drum which has a much longer life than traditional network printer imaging/toner cartridge units and can last up to a half million impressions without being thrown away,” said Carmel Rowley, CEO BERTL. “This not only reduces landfill waste, but also reduces the cost per page significantly. When BERTL analysts performed an accelerated 24-hour continuous print test, Kyocera Mita’s ECOSYS technology easily beat its competition, with reliability as good or better than products it was tested against.”

Fairfield, New Jersey, March 12, 2003 – Kyocera Mita, one of the world's leading document imaging companies, today announced that it has been honored with two Editor’s Choice awards by highly regarded testing organization Better Buys for Business. The 2003 Mid-Volume Monochrome Printer Guide from Better Buys for Business reports that Kyocera Mita FS-1800+ and FS-1800N+ (19 pages per minute) printers have been named the best overall buys and best performing products in their category. They demonstrate low cost of operation and strong paper handling, coupled with an economical purchase price when compared with competing brands. Also included in the report is a review of Kyocera Mita’s FS-3800 (25 pages per minute) printer product family.

According to Better Buys for Business, “Each machine stacks up well against the competition. The FS-1800 and FS-3800 families boast some of the lowest operating costs of any printer in the guide – less than 0.7 cents a page. That’s a lot cheaper than the competition, and if you use these printers anywhere close to their duty cycles, it means a remarkable amount of savings.”

The report also highlights some additional advantages utilizing the FS-1800 and FS-3800 product lines, including strong paper handling capabilities, higher-than-usual print volumes, low operating costs, processing power (200MHz PowerPC chip), multiple original printing standard and optional hard drive. The devices also offer two-sided printing and envelope-feeding options as well as an optional embedded wireless (802.11b, Wi-Fi compliant) Ethernet card.

Kyocera Mita is a group company of Kyocera Corporation, the world's leading developer and manufacturer of advanced ceramics and associated products, including telecommunications equipment, semiconductor packages and electronic components. Kyocera Corporation's consolidated net revenues totaled $9.0 billion during the year ended March 31, 2003. Kyocera employs more than 40,000 people worldwide.

Kyocera Mita's operations in the Americas are headquartered in Fairfield, New Jersey. The company produces toner, developers and cartridges at a state-of-the art manufacturing facility in Greenville, South Carolina, and operates a training and parts distribution center in Dallas as the hub for its technical and sales training operations.

Product Leadership

Kyocera's global leadership in printer technology was combined with Mita's strength in copiers and multi-functional products when the two companies merged in 2000. Kyocera Mita has leveraged this combined strength to manufacture a complete line of award-winning digital imaging products and their advanced ceramic components, including a long-life drum unit and engine that are common on all Kyocera Mita-manufactured products. Kyocera Mita introduced the world's first single-layer photo-electrostatic OPC drum in 1998, and continues to excel in the development and manufacture of long-life drums, a component it supplies to many printer and copier manufacturers around the world.

All Kyocera Mita printers and multi-functional products utilize the common KX driver, which provides a standard look and feel for end users and also enables the easy set-up and management of all products running on the network.

Technology Innovation

Kyocera Mita innovates using technology to reduce TCO, streamline advanced document imaging tasks and protect the environment. Its environmental awareness is evidenced through the ECOSYS brand of printers. Unnecessary waste of cartridges is eliminated in ECOSYS products, since toner is added to the existing unit without disposal of the drum, a feature that not only helps protect the environment but contributes to a low TCO.

Kyocera Mita is the first player in the industry to offer complete embedded wireless connectivity for all Kyocera Mita-developed printers and MFPs. The company's wireless offerings enable mobile printing and multi-office printing flexibility and give end users true wireless document processing at the same functionality as a hard-wired network.

Dealer Network

The award-winning, high-performance Kyocera Mita product line is offered through a nationwide network of over 400 dealers, who add value to customers through quality integration, customization and 24/7 service and support for the products. Kyocera Mita supports its network of dealers with a strong National and Government Accounts Division that assists with large, multi-regional opportunities and provides a focused strategy for Fortune 1000 accounts and the government.

The Result
Kyocera Mita's ECOSYS printers and copiers create less waste than any competing products and have the lowest comparable cost per print.

Environmentally Proactive
Environmental consideration has also been taken in the development of the materials used in the external casing of ECOSYS printers. A bromine-free resin blend of polycarbonate and ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene stryrene) has been employed. Bromine, a fire resistant agent, is known to release toxic dioxins into the atmosphere when burned at low temperatures.

ECOSYS Environmental and Cost Benefits
The benefits of Kyocera Mita's cartridge-free ECOSYS technology are twofold. Ecologically, ECOSYS can help to eliminate the environmental burden of used print cartridges worldwide that are now disposed of each year. Economically, by eliminating the recurring costs associated with replacement print cartridges, ECOSYS printers provide the industry's lowest TCO. This incremental savings can recoup the printer's purchase price in a year or less, particularly in network printing environments.

ECOSYS Honors and Awards
Kyocera Mita's ECOSYS printers have been recognized around the world since 1992 for their innovative technology and environmental friendliness.
